AREAS OF CARE
Proceeds from the 2026 Throwdown will be used to support the following areas of care at St. Joe’s.

SURGERY AT ST. JOSEPH’S
SURGERY AT ST. JOSEPH’S
Surgical services are at the heart of St. Joseph’s Health Centre, serving more than 500,000 people in Toronto’s west end. Our surgical teams perform nearly 28,000 procedures each year across a wide range of specialties, including cancer, orthopaedic, and bariatric surgery. Support for this area will directly advance the new Patient Care Tower, which will expand our surgical capacity from 10 to 23 operating rooms—each designed to accommodate leading-edge robotic and minimally invasive technology.
Donor investment will help modernize these spaces, reduce wait times, and ensure that patients in our community have access to the most advanced, compassionate surgical care close to home.
TRANSITIONAL AGED YOUTH UNIT – NEW PATIENT TOWER
TRANSITIONAL AGED YOUTH UNIT – NEW PATIENT TOWER
A first-of-its-kind unit dedicated to young adults aged 19 to 26, offering age-appropriate, therapeutic care during one of life’s most vulnerable stages.
This transitional period brings major changes and a heightened risk of mental health challenges. With your support, we will expand therapeutic areas, increase private rooms from 6 to 12, provide access to an outdoor therapeutic terrace and create trauma-informed spaces.
These improvements allow us to support even more young people when they need it most.
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IN THE NEW PATIENT TOWER
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IN THE NEW PATIENT TOWER
St. Joseph’s Health Centre operates one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the Greater Toronto Area, serving close to 100,000 patients each year. While St. Joe’s has built one of Toronto’s most trusted and efficient emergency departments, the reality is that growing demand continues to strain the space beyond capacity.
The new Patient Care Tower will provide 80,000 ft² of modern Emergency Department space, designed to accommodate up to 115,000 visits annually (a 15% increase in capacity), ensuring the department is prepared to meet the needs of a growing and aging community.
